Sky Poker has announced that it will be holding a live televised poker tournament. Sky Poker’s online poker players from around the world will be brought to six venues across the UK to compete in a live poker tour.
The final will be held at Nottingham’s Dusk till Dawn card room and will be televised with a prize pool of £25,000. Emma Crowe head of marketing at Sky Poker said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of this six-leg Sky Poker Tour.” Sky has hosted a series of one-off live events in the last year, which have all been very successful and have created enough demand for the Sky Poker Live Tour.
The Sky Poker Live Tour will be unique in that there is only one way to qualify for the tour, through the satellites online at Sky Poker. The lowest buy in will be £2.65. Crowe comments that there is a lot of anticipation about the tour as, “players will move from playing against each other live to meeting in person and completing across the felt with £25,000 at stake.”
The tour will start on September 13 with £5,000 guaranteed and will finish with the £25,000 prize pool in June 2009. The final will be made up of the top 10 finishers of the first five tournaments. You can also watch the final live on Sky Channel 865, which will be held in Nottingham’s Dusk till Dawn card room, the largest card room in the UK.
