Korea Tops for Internet Markets

Market research firm IDC Malaysia recently concluded a study of the North Asia Internet gaming market. It found that Korea and Taiwan made up two of the largest online gaming regions in the world, with Korea alone having a 54% market share.
Apart from the financial and entertainment value, research indicated that gamers are in it for other benefits as well, as software research analyst Jun-Fwu Chin attests. 'Online gaming brings a personalized experience that no other interactive content is capable of. Gamers are using it as a new platform to 'chat' with others and widen their social circle. There are even reports indicating that online characters marry each other! Such is the draw of the personalized online gaming experience,' he said.
